Lucent Netherlands; vice president Switching Solutions for the EMEA region, in a pre-sales / product marketing role. Central role in the region, forming the link between the (US based) product houses and the local customer / account teams.

Completed the restructuring of the Lucent organization in the region. Implemented (based on own initiative) a “Solutions Center of Excellence“. This CoE setup the organization to deal with 3rd party application developers, to enhance the Lucent offering in the Next Generation Network space. Responsible for Next Generation Intelligent Network (IN) business development. Focus of team is on creating Telecom applications (self or through 3rd parties), for Softswitch and / or Packet-IN based networks.

Responsible for overall switching technology in the region. Switching products include traditional tdm switching (5ESS) and Next Generation technology - Lucent Softswitch.
In this role, speaker on several international Telecom events (VON, IBC, etc) representing Lucent. Leading intensive campaign to market the Lucent Softswitch Solutions in the EMEA region. Many customer presentations with most major European Service Providers. (BT, FT, TI, DTAG, KPN, Telenor, Telia, Telefonica).

Responsible for the introduction of Lucent’s Softswitch with major Lucent customers in the region. Was requested in this job as a special assignment, to define the Lucent position with Softswitch, based on the first generation Lucent Softswitch.
Softswitch projects in Spain, France, UK and Germany. Created a real market for Lucent Softswitch in the region; the largest in terms of Lucent’s global presence.

Skills

Very experienced Telecommunications manager in large, international organization, with working contacts across Europe as well as in the US. Many contacts in the industry, on the supplier side as well as on the Service Provider side.
As a manager, focus on doing “the right thing”. Team player. Good understanding of the underlying technical aspects of the Telecommunication business. Excellent in communication and presentation skills. Manager with democratic style; focus on motivating and stimulating, giving guidelines and defining boundaries.
Technical background in Telecommunications, mostly on the voice switching side, both circuit switched technology (TDM), as well as Next Generation Technology (Softswitch). Broad experience in dealing with European Telco’s. Many years of experience in leading larger (technical customer support - 200-300 people) or smaller (product marketing 40-60 people) international teams, with departments in most Western-European countries. Worked two years in the USA as part of Bell Labs.
