Exercised full responsibility for the £78m operation employing 117 staff and 10 managers. Managed two integrated production units and one remote site producing 230,000+ tonnes per annum of refined fats (Margarine, Lard and Cooking Oils).Raised plant efficiency 35%. This allowed the Pura Group to acquire F.E. Barber Margarine and White Fats (450 tonnes per week), generating an additional £1.5m net profit.

Managed four integrated factory units employing 300 staff and 7 direct reporting managers with a combined turnover in excess of £42m.Implemented an integrated “Top to Bottom” quality awareness programme that reduced effluent waste 50% (<450 kg COD), production waste to less than 2% and brought product weight control within 0.2% of declared weight.

Departmental Manager, Toiletries, Sara Lee Ltd. 1985 to 1990
Managed the toiletries and cosmetics production operation employing 270 with a product range of 2000 lines. Implemented a new, “state of the art” materials and resource planning system in less than 10 months; trained 600 staff in the new system.

Site Engineering Manager, Pastry and Meat Products, Bowyers Ltd. 1972 to 1985
Managed the preparation, control and administration of all site capital investment, major projects, site maintenance and departmental productivity standards.
Member of the three-man project team that designed and oversaw the construction (in 7 months) of a new high tech ham production facility on a “greenfield” site. When completed, the unit was the most modern plant of its type in Europe
