INTERIM MANAGEMENT HISTORY

WHITEWEDGE SYSTEMS (WWS) – June 1995 to date - Owner
WWS is a private consultancy providing interim management; programme & project management; general consulting services; and client focused sales, marketing, and new business setup. Clients have included Barclays Bank, Thames Water, Raiffeisen Bank, The Post Office, TRW, The Smith Group, BancTec, BBC, Pearson, TEMENOS, Wordmap. Recent activities have included:
* An interim CEO role with a start-up consultancy
* Several programme/project management assignments with Barclays Private Bank
* A project recovery for Raiffeisen Bank in Poland
* A programme management assignment on a business change driven call center upgrade for Thames Water
* A period as sales director of a technology start-up in the knowledge management field.

BARCLAYS PRIVATE BANK – March 2004 – May 2004 and July 2004 – October 2004 – Programme Manager/Business Project Manager
Business project manager for an investment management IT platform evaluation. Managed the project from capture of business requirements through vendor selection, publication of an RFI, and evaluation of the results. A recommendation of the platform and approach to meet the Banks’ strategic and tactical requirements was made to members of the Bank Executive Committee within eight weeks of starting the evaluation.
This was followed by an assignment to create a programme out of the various implementation projects resulting from this evaluation and to carry out detailed planning and business justification for an interim solution that would deliver short-term stability and quantifiable business benefits to the Bank.

MAJOR UK PRIVATE BANK – July 2003 to November 2003 – Programme Director
Came in at short notice and hit the ground running. Restructured project team of 60+ technical and diverse business resources to focus on achievement of strategic goals on multi million pound projects whilst evaluating at board level future strategic and tactical direction of project. Worked with internal governance and external auditors to ensure project governance and FSA compliance was achieved. Made recommendations for future of project which were adopted by the Board and positioned bank to take a step back and evaluate target operating model prior to finalising delivery requirements for the project.

INVOKON – March 2003 to October 2004 – Interim CEO
Assignment is to kick start a practice based consultancy while the Chairman/CEO focuses on building several ventures. Achievements have included launching an Oracle Practice at Oracle AppsWorld exhibition; starting a Public Sector Practice; signing an exclusive worldwide franchise for a strategic planning consultancy product; involvement in developing a media content/enhanced client experience night club terminal; and building a management team that can drive the business forward.
Thames Water – December 2002 to May 2003 – Project Manager
Assignment was the project management of a £1m infrastructure and software upgrade of a clean and waste water network management system. Project target was to stabilise/improve system reliability, automate interfaces with corporate systems and improve data quality resulting in increased business confidence and greater utilisation of the system. Tasks included responsibility for negotiating and managing supplier contracts and managing implementation through to completion in a short timescale.
Succeeded in bringing in the project £90k under budget.

RAIFFEISEN BANK POLSKA – August 2001 to October 2002 - Implementation Director
Raiffeisen Bank Polska is one of the fastest growing foreign owned banks in Poland.
* My assignment was a project recovery for a corporate and consumer banking back office implementation (based on the Temenos Globus system) that was running over a year late.
* The role reported into the CEO of the bank and involved managing a team of nearly 100 bank and third party staff.
* The successful project turn around will result in an expansion of the consumer bank credit card and electronic banking channels together with a go-live of all of the corporate bank products including treasury, securities, risk, loans, payments, accounting, MIS etc.

WORDMAP LTD – January 2001 to June 2001 - Sales Director
Wordmap is a venture capital funded company with a software product for developing and rapidly deploying knowledge maps. Achievements included:
* Establishing a sales pipeline and signing up first two customers including a collaboration with one of the top international consultancies
* Developing a comprehensive business model for projecting revenues and costs based on market segments and sales channels

THAMES WATER – November 1999 to January 2001 - Programme Manager
Achievements included:
* Coordinating and managing a £14m business change driven call centre upgrade
* Reporting to the IS Manager and the IT Executive Board of Thames chaired by the Managing Director

TEMENOS SYSTEMS – February 1999 to August 1999 - Vice President, Global Client Services. TEMENOS Systems are a leading Geneva based system & software provider to Private Banking sector. Clients include Credit Suisse, Dresdner, Socgen, Hill Samuel, RZB.

Achievements included:
* Establishing communication, coordination, and cooperation throughout the 200 strong client services group in 9 global centres
* As a “hands-on” manager, was personally involved in closing sales and managing multiple major implementations of private banking back office and dealing room support systems as programme manager/project authority

Major US Based Transaction Processing Corporation – 1998 - Project Director
This was a three-month assignment in the USA to evaluate electronic bill presentment and payment market. Clients included major banks, utilities and credit card processors.

TRW SYSTEMS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY GROUP (TRW S&ITG) - 1995 to 1999 - Director, UK Business Development. TRW S&ITG are a major US systems integrator in space, defense & public safety projects moving into UK public safety, postal, outsourcing and healthcare markets. Clients and prospects included Royal Mail, the Home Office, the Metropolitan Police, and the NHS. Major achievements included:
* Success in repositioning the company from low value niche software developer ($2-4m assignments) in the UK into a viable customer business benefit driven systems integrator and outsourcer for high value contracts (> $200m)
* Involvement in sales, consortium creation and bid management of multi million dollar contracts in competition with EDS, CAP Gemini, Siemens, Lockheed Martin, Logica

EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

INTERNET SYSTEMS CORPORATION (1988-1995) – Positions included Director, Professional Services (Europe), Manager, Business Development (Europe/USA), Director Consulting Services (Americas). Internet Systems Corp. (later mpct Systems) was an international wholesale banking system software supplier with target market of top 100 international banks.

COMPUTER ENTRY SYSTEMS GROUP (CES) - September 1978 to March 1988
CES developed credit card, remittance processing and image based wholesale lockbox transaction processing systems. During my time at CES, I took on a wide variety of roles including Director, Technical Support (Macroscan - Europe), Manager, Sales Support (AOM - USA, Canada), Vice President, Software Development (AOM - USA), Group Product Manager (CES - USA, Europe), Senior Project Manager, Major Accounts (CES – USA, Europe), Director, Engineering Management (CES - USA).

COPERNICUS UK - August 1975 to January 1982 - Owner/Principal Consultant
Copernicus UK carried out management consultancy and was a software developer.

INTERSCAN DATA SYSTEMS - May 1972 to July 1975 - Technical Consultant, OCR Support Manager, East European Support Manager on OCR and data entry products.

WIGGINS TEAPE - September 1968 to April 1972 - Graduate Trainee, Programmer, Chief Process Control Programmer on Installation of the first European computer controlled papermaking machine.
