Professional experience

April 2006-Present- Head HR EMEA Belkin Components LTD, UK
Belkin is the world’s leading supplier of peripherals and connectivity solutions for computer and electronics users. Gross sales exceeded USD 1 billion worldwide and 300 million in EMEA. As the level of HR the organisation is still rather in its infancy. In this role I set up the HR strategy and designed and implemented the base HR systems and tools.

Highlights:
Set up and rolled out the new course of HR, from administrative support to a strategic partner that seriously impacts the business:
· Setup the HR roadmap for 2003-2006 including the projects underlying to ensure the implementation.
· Designed and Implemented new values for Belkin EMEA and an online performance appraisal system. The latter rolls up into a performance and development database, which generates the information for development and succession planning.
· Drive best practices sharing in my region as well as on a Global Level
· Implemented new and simpler bonus system, enabling cummulative bonus generation on quarterly basis.
· Trained the regional HR team on: selection and assessment, Predictive Index useage, Values setting and Performance appraisal implementation, Jobevaluation using HAY, Paylinedesign and Expatriates management.
· Pioneered new processes in recruitment, leading to a two set approach, the first improved the recruitment discipline, implemented external assessments and leveraged purchase power, which reduced the recruiting cost by 15%, the second step (partial outsourcing) would reduce with another 15% whilts having a single channel for all canidates for all EMEA countries.
· Improved the quality of the selection: None of the new hires left or was asked to leave, whilst the company had an employee turnover of 25%.
· Set up and ready for roll out an e-assessment methodology, which would sink the assessment cost for middle management with 75%
· Drove performance management down to country level.

January 2006-april 2006:

Interim head of HR SNT PlC Germany
SNT is a German based callcenter, a full subsidiary f the Dutch KPN. In this interim management role I drove the HR side of a large company restructuring.

Highlights:
· As interim head of HR restructured the German call center organization from 3500 employees and 13 locations to 6 locations and 2600 employees. This included works council negotiations, social plan conception as well as giving the structure for HR for the post-restructuring era.
· After 4 month one location was sold, one was closed and for three others the social plan for all other sites was agreed on.
· Lead the HR data room during a due diligence in an acquisition process, leading to a risk analysis, which resulted in the downturn of the opportunity.

1999-2006 JT International / RJ Reynolds

JTI is the world second largest manufacturer and sales organisation of cigarettes, producing annually over 200 Billion cogarettes and generating a net profit of 750 Million US$.

July 2002- January 2006 - Director HR Manufacturing Europe & Germany GMBH
In this role I drove the HR activities for all supply chain elements, such as manufacturing, Global logistics, Global engineering etc. in Europe, the European R&D site as well as the German market organisation.
Highlights:
· Served as HR head, encompassing global supply chain, marketing & sales and R&D departments consisting of 2250 employees.
· As HR responsible in the European steering group for the Sap implementation (F2S, R2R, P2P, O2C), drove training and change management programs for the european supply chain sites.
· Managed the outsourcing for the european supply chain elements of transactional finance activities to a Business Support Center in Manchester, impacting 100 disapearing FTE´s on time within budget.
· Set up and staffed center of excellence for the post implementation support of SAP.
· Conceived, tested and implemented a combined online selection, assessment and 360 degree development tool. Selected model for the Global Talent Assessment Program of JTI worldwide.
· Lead the HR side of the restructuring of the German marketing and sales departments, catalyzed market turnaround from losing 3M€ to earning 26 million € in three years.
· Moved full R&D lab including 200(+) employees and their families from Cologne to Trier.
· Presided and headed tariff negotiations on behalf of JTI in the German cigarette industry employers association.
· Member of the Executive committee of the German entity and of the European manufacturing management team.
· Visiting faculty at the social science faculty of the University trier as wella s the business faculty of the Technical University for Applied Science.

2001- July 2002 Director HR Manufacturing Europe JT International in Trier Germany
In this role I drove all HR activities amongst the 6 European factories.

Highlights:
· Served as HR head, encompassing the factories in Europe in Poland, Romania, Andorra, Germany, Switzerland and the Czech republic, totalling around 1900 employees.
· Evolved newly designed regional HR Structure to include all European factories.
· Coordinated closing of Polish factory operations including dispersion of availavble Polish talents inside of JTI.
· Built solid relationships across four German works Councils.
· Appointed JTI employer representative as Vice Chairman of the European Works Council.

1999-2001- HR Director JT International Benelux / RJ Reynolds
In this role I drove the HR activities for the Benelux market, the Global Internal Audit team and the office of European relations in Brussel.

Highlights:
· Served as HR head, responsible for 125 employees for market organizations in Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg, also responsible for the Global audit team and the European Union Gouvernment relations team.
· Implemented new values and leadership principles, drove change program after purchase of RJ Reynolds by JT International for all employees.
· Innovated the HR systems recognized as employer of choice (EOC)
· Reduced employee turnover by 50%, implemented childcare, compensation, creativity room, flexible benefits etc.
· Started as the HR Coordinator International Employees, responsible for the companies Expats, promoted to HR Director Benelux within 6 months.
· Published a book on leadership development as part of a Dutch management series, sold over 3000 copies.



1998-1999 Pricewaterhousecoopers

Highlights:
· Promoted from HR consultant recruitment and selection, to Global trainers pool.
· Selected as part of Global trainers team. Conducted global induction course, train the trainer for accountants; presentation skills and designed time management course across Europe and USA.
· Advised and consulted in areas of recruitment, selection and assessment & testing.

1991-1998 Variety of staff and field leadership positions as a career officer in the Army after graduating Military Academy.

Highlights:
· Promoted 6 years early and became the youngest Major in the army at age 29.
· As Major, set out the guidance for the new leadership model for the Army, which is now implemented
· Professionalized training methods and energetically led teambuilding sessions for middle and higher management level.
· Chaired works council,
· Authored multiple publications on leadership development and assessment.
· Completed university study (MA) within 2 years along with full army duties
· Visualized, created and developed an Assessment Center and management coaching tool for the Army’s Talent Pool of senior leveled officers.
· As Lieutenant and Captain, headed an Anti Aircraft Artillery unit, subsequently moved to selection center of the army to select career soldiers, subaltern officers and officers.
