VDL NEDCAR (BMW/MINI), BORN, NETHERLANDS 2014 – 2015
INTERIM PROJECT MANAGER HRBP
Restructured the Human Resources department following the re-launch of the VDL Nedcar factory in 2014. Successfully developed and implemented HR action plans for all major manufacturing departments and executed training for HRBP’s in six departments.

DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES & ORGANISATION DEVELOPMENT
Utilised Lean Six Sigma training to execute Organisational Capability Building to improve business processes, manage occupational health and safety risks, and integrate the company after acquiring new businesses. Supported the company’s new strategy by adapting existing and developing new HR instruments, developing management competence framework and a management competency training, periodic management performance review, and an HR core value stream to ease the transition. Provided coaching for 115 managers from all operations globally (30 locations in 20 countries). Personal efforts during this period contributed to the company’s ability to double their revenue over five years. Occupational health and safety management contributions resulted in workplace incidents falling from 4.5 to 0.15 out of 200,000 hours worked, and the severity ratio of these incidents decreased from 30.0 to 2.45. Absenteeism was less than 3% after implementing control mechanisms to combat this issue.

Major achievements at CRH;

Human Resources Management
- Facilitating and participating the strategic review process resulting in targets and objectives in the areas of ‘growth’ and ‘performance improvement’.
- Reviewing and redefining the company culture and values, to support the new strategy.
- Harmonising the new HR strategy across the operating companies worldwide.
- Develop new management competence framework in line with the desired culture.
- Develop management competency training.
- Provided training, individual coaching and development programs for 115 managers from all operations globally (30 locations, 20 countries).
- Develop and implement annual management performance review process.
- Adapting the HR core value stream areas (vacancy-2-productivity, first work day-2-last work day, handover-2-archive) to the new HR methodologies and procedures.
- Implementation of IT-tool SuccessFactors for tracking and managing talent management, management development and succession planning.
Resulting in a customer/process focussed, pro-active, results driven & collegial management culture, enabling Construction Accessories to grow in double digits annually; doubling in size in 5 years (550 million Euro).

Occupational Health & Safety Management
- Development of a safety management system in accordance with OHSAS18001.
- Development of a safety competences framework.
- Implementation of, and providing training and coaching in, the management system in all locations worldwide, including validation through on-site systems audits and operational audits. Thus enabling local management to manage safety on site.
- Resulting in a reduction of frequency ratio from 4.5 to 0.15 accidents per 200,000 hours worked.
- Resulting in a reduction of severity ratio from 30.0 to 2.45 lost days per 200,000 hours worked.
- Implementation of control mechanisms and procedures for absenteeism reduction (Bradford factor) resulting in overall absenteeism less than 3% and significant reduction in business process disturbances.

Business Process Improvement
- Sourcing of a partner for implementation of the Lean Six Sigma Methodology.
- Development and implementation of an Business Excellence Framework.
- Co-develop, participate and facilitate Sponsor or Champion training.
- Facilitate management business reviews to determine the ‘Voice of the Business’ and required business improvements.
- Program management for all LSS projects globally.
- Determine the Black Belt and Green Belt training curriculum.
- Participate in Black Belt training
- Participate in and facilitate Green Belt trainings.
- Act as Black Belt coach for Green Belts and their projects at 3 manufacturing locations.
Since introduction of the program in 2010, annual savings up to 2.5 million Euro have been realised.
Post Acquisition Integration of acquired companies in China (Greenfield operation), Malaysia, Singapore and India.
