PROFILE

International Sr. Program Manager
From 1999 until 2009
I’ve worked for Cap Gemini Belgium N.V. as an international Sr. Program Manager. During this 10 year period, I’ve gained a proven track record for the delivery, on-time and within budget, of several multi-million Euro’s, international projects, in a broad range of industry as described in “Major achievements”.
As a sr. manager, I was accountable for the budget, the planning, execution, implementation and delivery of projects. Therefore, I managed and coached multi-disciplinary teams ranging from business and technical analysts, to developers and system engineers.
I Worked in various European countries, in South Africa and India giving me a broad experience and a practical knowledge of translating senior business objectives into company solutions.
Major achievements (1999-2009)
For Atos Origin World Pay (former Banksys), I managed the project “World-Line Pay Front Office Platform setup for “Atos Worldline”. The project provided Atos Worldline with a new more performing technology for their “acquiring platform”.
Reviewed the specifications and requirements, for both hard- and software, with the architects , analysts and developers.
Based upon these requirements and chosen technology, I defined the “Planning Guide Lines”, made the budget for this project and the resource planning.
I made the milestone planning and project planning based upon the “Planning Guide Lines” and in line with the budget.
Implemented the RUP methodology for the development and put in place the communication and meeting structure for the project.
Coached and advised the team leaders in order to obtain the different modules in a timely manner in line with overhaul projectplan.
Identified potential project risks, by applying risk management, and made decisions on what mitigation actions to take.
The project was delivered 1month before due time.


For Proximus, I took on the assignment as engagement manager for the “GSP” (Global Service Provider). In this role I was responsible for the delivery of the data warehouse related “work packs”, which provided the business with crucial information for bringing their products into the market in a timely manner. For this assignment I worked on locations at Mumbai and Brussels.
On this project I put in place the appropriate management systems for the different project teams as well for the data communication. Trained and coached Proximus management and the team-leaders to work in a multi-cultural environment (European and Indian). Evaluated and corrected, if appropriate, the project planning for both locations.
Prioritized the workload based upon the critical products for the business.
Advised the board of executives on the progress and the action needed program for the project.
After the delivery of the prioritised business critical “workpacks”, I initiated the project for rebuilding the datawarehouse.

For the “Belgian Railways Holding” I acted as a result oriented team-manager for the development and implementation of their new “national ticketing sales system”; a € +5million project to be rolled out in all Belgian railway stations. (300)
Defined the project scope and budget for this project and after defending these with the business, (sponsor of the project) I obtained the “Go-Ahead”.
I did the recruitment of software developers.
Proactively evaluated and challenged the system design with system engineers in order to stay within budget and aligned with the business needs and performance requirements. I took mitigation actions when needed.
Coordinated the writing of the specifications , intended for the suppliers of hardware and middleware components, and participated in the price negotiations with the 3rd party suppliers.
Managed and coached the different teams of analysts, developers, testers and system engineers.


For Toyota Motor Europe, I did the program management for the software development (on Mainframe and AS400) & implementation of a pan-European new logistic system for spare parts. This was a € 40million , strategic important project with a team of 100 pple. The new system had to be build and operational in 6 months of time. In order to comply with this strict deadline, I coordinated the recruitment and staffing for the project. Different skill sets were needed (Cobol and RPG4). I Put a Project Management Office in place and organized the communication structure within the project.
Introduced and trained the project managers in the RUP methodology for the development and assisted them with the management of their individual teams, corrected their project planning in order to be aligned with the overhaul progress of the project in function of the deadline.
After 7 months the development and testing was completed and I could take the decision for the “GO-LIVE”. (Big Bang)
Due to the importance of this project I reported directly to the Toyota management in Japan.

For the Philips Consumer Electronics group I did several projects; such as re- structuring production units.
I implemented project management methodology for their development areas, in order to put new products on time in the market.
Introduced “co-maker ship” by defining the core business and outsource the secondary processes to 3rd parties with a “zero tolerance” policy (zero defects)
I also delivered management training on topics such as change management, for different levels of management.

Cambridge Management Consulting From 1996-1999
Most important achievement during this period was for the “Holderbank Group”, where I implemented a new maintenance program to reduce downtime for one of their leading plants in South Africa.


Independent consultant From 1987-1996
Worked as consultant and interim manager for different companies in the Benelux and France.


EPI From 1984-1987

My major achievement during this period, is the restructuration of “FN Herstal” in preparation of the acquisition by “GIAT” the second largest weapon manufacturer in France.
