Market analysis, prospect search and market definition were the basis for the introduction of new products and services into the company and the market based on Internet technology. Not to disturb current succesful activities, the business extensions were gradually introduced to staff and customers in the comtext of a marketing strategy by means of training sessions, workshops, technology transfer, demo's and testsites.

Smallworld Systems BV was started in 1993 as a new company selling and supporting Geographic Information Systems into the utility, public sector and telecom market. Within 3 years Smallworld reached the position as one of the two major players in the market, replacing existing facility management systems from Siemens, IBM, Unisys, etc.
