Approx. 70 employees.

Job-title: Head of Glostrup office (i.e. the former Gravquick A/S).

Main tasks: Transfer of suppliers, customers and product knowledge to Gottfred Petersen and its staff.

1994-2001: Gravquick A/S, Glostrup, Denmark
Primarily import and distribution of construction materials and supplies.
30 staff in four sales divisions and one subsidiary.
The four divisions were: laboratory equipment, GPS-equipment, construction supplies and materials, and a DIY division.
The subsidiary was a small and specialised contractor.

Job-title: Managing Director.
Area of responsibility and main tasks:
- General management of the company
- Strategic development and implementation
- Overall P/L responsibility
- Developing sales and customer relationships with among others DIY stores, builder’s merchants, wholesalers, contractors and specifiers
- Developing concepts and solutions with customers rather than “just” selling products.
- Organisational restructuring and development
- Responsible for own accounts
- Motivation of staff, sales people and sales managers
- General modernisation and rejuvenation of the sales organisation, and pushing a market orientation rather than a product orientation
- Contact to, negotiation and relationship building with international suppliers and manufacturers
- Finding new suppliers and introducing new products
- Marketing

- Budgeting, follow up and other reporting
- IT – including introducing a new and Y2K compatible accounting/administrative system

Results include among others:
- Manoeuvring the company through two major, externally caused challenges; 1) when a major contract stopped and 2) when the largest supplier terminated the distribution agreement to start for themselves in Denmark.
- Significantly increasing the company’s market share (from approx. 35% to 70% in one product area and from 0 to approx. 25% in another) by among others focusing on providing solutions rather than selling products.
- Acquiring many new customers, both builder’s merchants and contractors
- Securing the company’s largest project contracts
- Introducing a range of new products, including obtaining the necessary official approvals, both in Denmark and Sweden with significant success.
- Doubling the number of agreements with DIY-sheds

Reasons for change of job: I sold Gravquick A/S to Gottfred Petersen A/S and hold a temporary job with that company.


1992-1994: Holtug * Audon & Associates (HA&A), Copenhagen
Mergers & Acquisition “boutique”. 6 staff total.
Provided M&A consulting services, representing either the buyer or the seller of a company.

Job-title: Senior consultant.
Area of responsibility and main tasks:
- M&A consulting (worked among other on Vestas (wind turbines) and Time/System
- Valuation of companies/business divisions
- Developing Shareholder Value (the concept was relatively new in Denmark at that time)
- Preparing prospectus material and company presentations
- Acquiring selling or buying mandates from clients
- Presenting client companies to potential buyers/sellers
- Closing transactions

Left HA&A to join Gravquick A/S due to the failing health of the owner of Gravquick A/S.


1990-1992: McKinsey & Co., Copenhagen
Management consulting.
Approx. 60 staff in Copenhagen, approx. 2,000 staff world wide.

Job-title: Associate
Area of responsibility and main tasks:
- Assignments in teams of typically 3-5 consultants which among other included:
- Sales channel strategy
- Post merger integration and rationalisation
- Rationalisation / restructuring / turnaround
Within manufacturing, banking and insurance

One assignment in Portugal had a duration of 5-6 months.

Left McKinsey because of extensive travelling which meant that I was practically never in Copenhagen.


1983- 1988: Privatbanken, Copenhagen.
Commercial Danish bank.
Joined the bank while studying at Copenhagen University.

- Student, associate and deputy head of Managerial Economics office (1983-1987)
- Trainee, Credit department (6 months, 1987)

Area of responsibility and main tasks:
- Analysis and reporting of the bank’s financial performance to top management.
