June 1997 to Feb 2001 : The Belle Group ( Sheen, Derbyshire ) T/O £ 30M. 250 employees at four manufacturing sites. ( 3 UK, 1 Poland )
Position : Group Technical Director
Responsibilities : Main Board Director reporting to the Group M.D.
Group mission to grow the Company both organically, and by acquisition, and improve the bottom line performance.
Responsible for all Belle Group engineering at three sites, including new product development, current products MOD, cost reduction programs and procedures.
Engineering viewed as the driver for change within the Belle Group, and the focus was to develop full product lines to specific market sectors, with an increased contribution to the bottom line.
Significant changes were required to elevate the status of Engineering within the Group. A common platform was created with harmonised working practices and a single CAD system. This enabled Project Teams to be set up to handle the prioritised workload, regardless of their location.
This flexibility, along with NPD, rapid proto-typing, and FEA techniques allowed us to re-engineer all of the core product ranges, as well as introduce significant new products.
The main core product ( T/O £12M ) was re-designed, and cost reduced, giving an additional bottom line contribution of over £750k p.a., and has since grown sales dramatically.

Position : Operations Manager – Compact Equipment Division

Position : Product Manager – Skid Steer Loaders

Products developed and manufactured in partnership with Belle Engineering ( Sheen ) Ltd., and Trak International (now Omniquip) based in the U.S.A.
