Esab CDC BV is the Central European Distribution & IT centre.

ESAB CDC supplies an assortment of 20,000 products from 140 different European and non-European suppliers. The yearly sales are approximately 50 million Euro. Nearly 50 percent of all shipment goes directly to the end user, thirty percent is via wholesalers and the rest to our own local sales repair centres or warehouses.

For the region we have a PC network, IBM AS400, JDEwards software installed. This to support nearly 150 active users in the following countries Germany, Holland, Belgium, Austria, France and Switzerland.

In my function, I reported to the Vice President Europe (in Sweden).

Weidmüller Inc. is a German international sales and marketing company for 30,000 different electrical and electronic components. Weidmüller Inc. is the headquarters for United States operations and has sales of approximately 25 million dollars. It has approximately 100 employees and utilized approximately 150 distributors located throughout the United States. Nearly 80 percent of all sales are transacted through distribution channels. Twenty percent of sales are obtained directly. Weidmüller Inc. is composed of operational teams dedicated to servicing its product lines.

For Weidmüller Inc. I worked in the Logistics and Information System areas.

I came to Weidmüller Inc. to assist in its organizational restructuring process, specializing in logistics, information systems and distribution. My assignment was also aimed at bridging the internationalisation between German and American operations.

In my function, I reported to the President and was responsible for Material Handling, Material Planning, Purchasing, Order Administration and Information Systems. I have also managed Production, Value Added Services, Engineering, Human resources and controlling teams at my tenure with Weidmüller Inc.

Logistics manager

(1984-1992)

Weidmüller BV is the sales and marketing organization for Holland’s operations. It was responsible for 10 million Euro in sales and had 25 employees.

My responsibilities resided with Warehouse, Purchasing and Information Systems areas. I determined budgets, inventory levels and personnel requirements. Under my direction, Inventory and service goals were achieved. I participated in many Weidmüller group company committees. Areas of focus were international Logistics, European distribution and international communication.

In this capacity, I developed and implemented a new distribution concept that resulted in lower inventory with higher service. Mr. Gläsel, Weidmüller President and owner recognized this accomplishment. Weidmüller’s first EDI connection is also credited to me.

Product Manager

Brandsteder is a sales organization for Sony audio and video equipment in Holland. Its sales were approximately 8 million Euro and retained 300 employees.

This function involved responsibility for product introduction and sales forecasting. Under my direction the “Sony Walkman” was introduced in Holland. Approximately 200 personal audio products were managed. The function reported to the Product Group Manager.

Assistant General Manager

Ceteco is a Dutch company with offices in Latin America. Ceteco Honduras is a manufacturing, distribution and wholesale organization for audio and video equipment, dryers, washing machines, bedsprings, mattresses and other household merchandise. Sales were approximately 20 million dollars.

My responsibilities were purchasing and planning. I was responsible for 10 employees. This position gave me an understanding of international trade and the opportunity to work with multi-national companies and employees.

Assistant Plant Manager

Ceteco Venezuela is a producer of audio and video equipment. The facility was responsible for the local production and sales of 12 products. Revenues were approximately 15 million dollars.

In this capacity, my roles were to set-up new production lines and maintain warehouse operations. I also conducted a market study to define appropriate distribution channels and locations within the local market. I accepted this position after my study to expand my knowledge and experience at an international level.
