Most recent jobs

Job at Tebodin;

Tebodin is an international engineering company specialised in infrastructure and energy projects.
I am lead engineer for the client Gaz de France-Suez. The project is about storage of natural gas coming from Russia in the earth, later to be used in Central France and Paris. The site will use three turbines of which two are existing retrofitted gas driven and one compressor will be electrical.
My role is lead engineer for the overall control system for the treatment (deshydratation and desulfication), compression and for the details of the new compressor, from the site of Tebodin.
My job includes all phases of the EPCM contract, including define and negotiate technical details, leading HAZOP, and check and discuss customer standards. Obviously the environment is very international; meetings are in German, Dutch, French and English. I can speak all these languages fluently.

Job at Genzyme;

Genzyme is a US-based pharmaceutical company specialised in the production of medical
products for rare diseases. My job initially started as commissioning manager for the first new
plant in Geel. The core is a set of bulk bioreactors but the complete factory was new and also
all utilities had to be commissioned and fine-tuned. I had to manage a group of about 25
people to start-up about 150 systems in total. I also wrote the commissioning master plan for
the second factory and was FAT-manager as well before I went to Lyon France to be member
of the core team for the definition of the new to be build factory there. My duty was the IT department
for defining the structure and the data-centres, as well as the definition of the
automation structures; PLC’s and SCADA. Also the Building automation (BMS) was my responsibility.

The Job at Praxair;

The job started as programmer and of commissioning for completely new or completely
retrofitted cryogenic gas plants worldwide. The programs needed to be written from scratch
but according strict standards. Hardware definition had to be adapted towards local rules as
well. PLC’s were always Rockwell Allen Bradley, often PLC5(/20/40) or SLC500(04/05). The
networks were by DH+ or Ethernet. SCADA was Fix 32 from Intellution.
The sequence was to define the hardware following designed P&id’s, then do the programming.
Do the FAT in the mean while of the panels. Then do the simulation meeting with end
customers and after correcting remarks go to the site. There do I/O test and eventually the
start-up. Keeping track of the as-build electrical drawings was also included in the job.
Later on I became head of the advanced controls system division in Europe (ACS) to do the
same but also supervise a number of programmers.
