MARC Global Holdings is one of the leading global suppliers of Supply Chain Execution Solutions and in particular Warehouse Management Solutions. MARC has been created a buy-out out of TRW’s Supply Chain Practice in Dec 2000. Annual revenue for 2001 and 2002 were approximately 27M$. Approximately 200 people employed worldwide, located in US, Europe and Australia.

Accomplishments:
• As part of the transaction with TRW the assets of the US and Australian operation has been bought and the shares of a Dutch BV. All financial and operational systems and procedures had to be defined or redefined and all necessary systems had to be put in place and people had to be trained. All global procedures concerning US GAAP reporting and in particular revenue recognition had to be re-assessed or re-defined due to changed strategies by lawmakers and the auditors, in particular for the software industry.
• Secured a second round of financing, at a time, that it was very difficult to secure any round of financing for any software company. Evaluated entrance into potential new markets, corporate acquisitions and joint ventures.
• Continuation of MARC’s leading market position in the Supply Chain Execution marketplace, recognized by AMR, ARC, Gartner and several other local market research organizations.
• The CEO’s commitment to global Tier-1 customers is very important to be able to close large global deals. In this role heavily involved in closing new business or the continuation of business with Nike, Reebok, Ford of Europe, Philips Lighting, Philips Semi-Conductor, Thomas & Betts, Fosters, Coles Myer Ltd., Sara Lee/DE, Jusco/Hitachi (Japan).
• Board participation. Cooperation within the Board has been extremely difficult over the past 12 month due to differences of opinion within the Board how to move forward and differences of opinion regarding the exit strategy (short-term vs. long-term). In particular the US investor representatives focussed on a short-term exit strategy in a extremely difficult commercial and financial marketplace.
• Managed relations with corporate investors and staff worldwide, requiring extensive international travel, twice a month between Europe and US for the last four years.

TRW Supply Chain Solutions 1999 - 2000
Reston, Virginia Vice President Logistic Execution Systems


Managed as VP for Logistics Execution Systems the US and Australian operation as part of TRW and managed as General Manager of FACE BV the independent European operating entity. Was asked to assume global responsibilities, after extensive management issues in the US. Advised TRW in the strategic direction of the operation. TRW’s desire to discontinue its involvement in Supply Chain Solutions, I took the initiative to arrange a buy-out of the MARC, Supply Chain Execution, business. Acted as middle man between TRW and a group of interested investors.

Accomplishments:
• Positioned MARC as one of the leaders in the Supply Chain Execution marketplace and took acre that MARC has been positioned in the leaders quadrant of the Gartner magic quadrant for WMS (Warehouse Management Systems).
• Positioned MARC favorable in front of customers, specially after the market received messages that TRW was considering to discontinue the MARC business.
• Restructuring the business by discontinuing a part of MARC’s produict offering, MARC-ES (Engineered Solution). Committed to existing customers to continue maintenance and support for an extensive period of time.
• Managed relations with investors and staff worldwide, requiring extensive international travel.

FACE BV 1987-1999
Eindhoven, the Netherlands Founder & General Manager

Founded FACE (Factory Automation Consultancy & Engineering) with the strategic goal to be a systems integrator for custom designed Shop Floor Control systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems and Warehouse Management Systems. As founder responsible for the design of the business plan and the implementation thereof.

Accomplishments:
• Founded a profitable IT services organization, which grew from 6 employees at the start and more then 100 employees in 1999.
• Sold the company to BDM Technologies, the IT services subsidiary for the commercial marketplace of BDM International.
• Successfully created a leadership position in the European marketplace for WMS systems. Sold the MARC solution to a substantial amount of European customers e.g : Vitesse Logistics, Hoffman La Roche, Franklin Mint., Ford of Europe (Cologne, Valancia, Istanbul), Philips Lighting, Nedlloyd Districenters, penske Logistics, Distributie Centrum Leusden, Van Dorp Despec Groep and others.
• Definition of necessary product enhancements to be able to position the MARC product in the European marketplace. E.g.: Global Trading, Custom Declaration, Value Added Logistics.

Centrum voor Micro-Electronica 1983-1987

The Centrum voor Micro Electronica was an initiative of the Ministry of Economic Affairs to support Small and Medium sized enterprises with initiatives to use micro-electronics in products and products systems. As consultant responsible for the development of business and project plans, and the support of these initiatives in trying to get funding from either investors or via national or European government support programs (INSTIR, TOK, ESPRIT, BRITE etc.).

Accomplishments:
• Successfully initiated and funded initiatives which created several commercially successful products or systems.
o PowerTrack : A solar energy power optimization system
o FollowMe : Call center equipment.
o FROG : A free ranging automated guided vehicle.
• The implementation of a custom build project management tool.

Volvo Car BV 1981-1983
Helmond, the Netherlands Senior Systems Engineer

Volvo Car BV the Dutch subsidiary of Volvo Car Sweden was responsible for the design, the development and manufacturing of the mid size range of the Volvo car brand. Due to partial ownership of Dutch government operated Volvo Car BV independent from Volvo Car Sweden, as long as the developed cars did fit in the model range. Responsible for the selection and implementation of a Computer Aided Design system, this in close cooperation with the different operational organizational entities ( Development, IT and Organizational Development ) within the organization.

Accomplishments:
• Definition Requirement and Request for Proposal document.
• Assessment of the different proposals
• Supplier selection.
• Budget proposal and contract negotiations.
• System implementation and development of training material and procedures.

Philips Research Labs. 1977-1981
Eindhoven, the Netherlands Research Associate

The Philips Research Laboratories is the centralized advanced development laboratory, in which technologies and systems are researched and developed, which will be used in future products or developments or will be used to be sold to the industry. As Research Associate part of the video processing department. This department was responsible for the development of the base technologies of High Definition TV, 3D TV, and Video processing techniques for Video Conferencing and Large Screen TV, Flat Screen TV.

Accomplishments:
• Initiated the design and construction of a real time video capturing system, with which it was possible to simulate by computer different video processing algorithms, without the need to build new video processing concepts.
• Initiated and patented the Videowall concept to simulate large screen TV.
• Patented several High Definition digital transmission concepts.
• Patented several Video Compression concepts, in cooperation with several European telecom providers and part of collaborative research initiatives, initiated by the European Commission.
• Designed and constructed a demo-system of the first “Fiber to the Home” broadband digital glassfiber network, in cooperation with Dr. Neher Lab. The research lab of the Dutch telecom provider.

An integrator of industrial weighing systems. FACE BV was a 40% shareholder of the company. Resigned from the Board after the discovery of financial malversations of management, acted as General Manager until the company went into bankruptcy.

A distributor of industrial computer components. Resigned from the Board after the sale of the company to Advantech Inc. (Taiwan). Supported management in the sale of the company and in the integration of an acquired system integrator.

A supplier and manufacturer of security systems for elderly and disabled people, independently living or living under assisted living conditions. Resigned from the Board after the sale of the company to Bosch Security Systems. Supported management in the definition of new product lines and related RF technologies.
