Career Achievements
2001 - 2003
Managing Director and Founder, consultancy specialising in CSR, HR consulting, change implementation, diversity and leadership development. It is known for its innovative approaches and very high-quality work. In its second year, revenue increased by five-fold and will increase by 50% again this year. One recent client said: ‘you have changed my view of consultants forever’. Clients have included British Airways, Shell, NHS, PricewaterhouseCoopers, the London Boroughs of Ealing and Greenwich, Lattice, 3M, the Office of Fair Trading, the Driving Standards Agency. The MD role includes chiefly involves business development and managing client assignments, but also includes elements of Finance, Product Development, Marketing, HR/ recruitment, and IT.

During this period, I have published a half-dozen articles and given a dozen talks at major conferences a year on subjects ranging from globalisation, business and society, culture change, HRM, and leadership and personal development. I was recently invited to become a part-time faculty member at the University of Surrey in their M.Sc. in Change Agent Skills.

2000-2001
Principal Consultant, PricewaterhouseCoopers
As PwC’s most senior leadership and culture change consultant, I was typically called in when major change programmes had stalled because of ‘people issues’. One such programme for the Child Support Agency involved a consulting investment of £100 million, yet the project was stumbling from lack of change management, leadership and communication. Over six months, I trained the board in change leadership, coached a number of Directors, and facilitated a number of board meetings. Having assessed the change risks to the programme, he developed a change plan and helped recruit a team to execute it. In addition, fierce resistance from middle-level managers was countered by a series of communication events that grew their commitment up to useful levels and saw the programme through this critical phase successfully. Clients: The Child Support Agency, Royal Sun Alliance, Homebase, B&Q, British Airways

1999
Sabbatical from PwC, Visiting Scholar, University of Wisconsin, Madison
Appointed a visiting scholar by the Dean of the School of Business, I spent this period researching the role of spirituality (values, deep beliefs, practices, and ritual) in the workplace. His thesis was a landmark study in this field.

1995 – 1999
PricewaterhouseCoopers, Corporate Transformation
I joined PwC’s internal ‘brain-trust’ (Corporate Transformation) and co-developed methodologies in strategy implementation business transformation, creativity and innovation, leadership development and management of change. There, I delivered over two-dozen client programmes in leadership development, creativity, and culture change. Also delivered the change-stream of a dozen systems or process redesign implementations. Clients: UBS – Warburg, Woolwich, Barclays PLC, Thomson Tours, National Westminster Bank, Bass

1993 – 1995
PricewaterhouseCoopers, Financial Risk Management
Joining PwC shortly after post-graduate school, I became PwC’s ‘quant’ on investment banking strategy; derivatives risk management including credit-risk measurement, risk modelling, value-at-risk methodologies, risk management systems, forensic derivative investigation, and risk management regulation. During this time, I delivered over one dozen investment banking strategic reviews and risk management programmes, and was called as an expert investigator on the NatWest and Barings scandals and helped deliver better risk management policies, structure, systems and processes to several leading investment banks. Clients: Credit Lyonnais, Barclays de Zoete Wedd, Svenska Handelsbanken, Baring Brothers, National Westminster, Cresvale Securities, Eurocorp Securities

1988 – 1992
University of London, School of Pharmacy
At a leading biophysical chemistry laboratory, I completed the research and coursework for a PhD in Biochemistry and was awarded an SERC research grant to study the effects of lipid metabolism on neurotransmitter function. This involved organic synthesis, cell fractionation, enzyme kinetics, chromatography and magnetic resonance spectroscopy.

1986 – 1987
Quadrex Securities, London
At this securities start-up, I specialised in equity derivatives, and high-yield and emerging market debt, grew and managed an equity and fixed income sales team by expanding into Mediterranean Europe and the Middle East. The sales team revenues grew to £25 million.

1983 - 1985
Sanwa Bank, London
Founded and grew a ten person money market trading operation to become this investment bank’s top revenue producing unit. Co-invented the Eurobond repurchase market and was a pioneer in Eurobond Emerging and High-Yield debt markets.
