Work Experience

Career history (summarized):
Mrs. worked for 1,5 years abroad after her University Degree. Once returned in the Netherlands she gained her first professional experience in the ICT branch at Servasure Systems B.V. Starting initially as an Account Co-ordinator because of her language skills, she promoted rapidly to the role of International Consultant and assisted in tailor-made projects for customers and prospects in Holland and abroad.
From the start at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young she has been working as a Delivery Manager of the internal internet department. After different studies in this area she started to specialise more and more in the area of maintenance organisations, ITIL and ITIL Service Management. The acquired skills in this area could be applied in the roles of Transition Manager, Interim Manager and later on also as a Strategic Consultant for the CIO of CGE&Y Netherlands. Thanks to her severe pragmatic approach, technical interest and strong communicative skills she managed to enforce changes throughout several organisations. Partly because of that she has been asked over and over for new roles within the CGE&Y organisation as well as within customer organisations. After 2 pregnancies she set herself to combine motherhood with a temporarily career as a freelance translator. She continued though to gain more in-depth knowledge of some ICT areas and she passed recently the Prince2 exam. Just a while ago she prepared her come-back in the ICT profession. As an independent Project Manager, she wishes to share her passion and knowledge of the ICT field and Management skills with medium to large organisations.

Career History:
2005 - now
Foundation of a one-man business in translations and interpreter activities in the French language in order to combine two pregnancies with work at home. In this period translation of mainly Dutch novels into French for a Publisher in Holland as well as documents for technical companies (Uitgeverij Marken B.V., Bloksma B.V. and others). Recently changed the set-up of the one-man business into the desired combination of project and interim management in the large area of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). As an independent project manager you can temporarily take me on board in medium-sized to large businesses in the Netherlands. Expertise lies mainly in the large area of ICT services: ITIL, Service Management, ICT maintenance departments, independent advice on the choice of an ICT product or implementation projects and coaching of staff.

2001 – 2004 Strategic Consultant
Corporate Information Management (CIM) is the department within CGE&Y responsible for the internal automation systems. On the one hand this department defines the main policy on strategic level in line with the parent company in France, on the other the CIM department manage the execution of this policy as well as new projects. Communication and clarification to the users on behalf of the policy on the computerized systems is also a responsibility of CIM.

I was asked personally by the former CIO to join the Corporate level of CGE&Y as a Strategic Consultant in order to make new policy plans for CGE&Y in the Netherlands in regard to internet, web applications and servers. Until the departure of the CIO in question around September 2001 the activities of this new function consisted mainly in:

• Making an inventory and analysis of all Web applications, databases, Operating Systems and machinery (servers) of Cap Gemini Ernst & Young in the Netherlands;
• Making Infrastructural policy plans in order to limit proliferation and to bring structure to the Web environment of CGE&Y. Setting up standards and procedures for the future use of this ‘Web Community’
• Supervision of the “Go-Live” process of the last Knowledge Management Web applications (Agora, Sybille, Sofia) and E-match (recruiting tool for the automatic search for the ideal match between CGE&Y personnel and the profile that the customer is looking for) and other small to large Web applications for global use;
• Participation in the steering committee conducted by the then Director of CGE&Y Netherlands Henk Broeders, for the project of 'Restructuring the CGE&Y *.*. Web' (implementation of 1 Content Management System).

With the arrival of a new CIO the department of CIM has gone through a reorganisation in the fall of 2001. The division in two sections has been made official by then. On the one hand the Functional Maintenance division was created and was called Application Management (AM) and the more technical Infrastructure Management (IM) was founded on the other hand . My tasks became part of the technical IM services and was called officially ‘Computing CGE&Y’. The three sub areas within Computing are server platforms, directories en Web platforms. Since the new structural basis the activities are initially mainly based on the Web environment: some Web applications have gone “live” (f.i. CardWeb, CV backend application, Storm, OR recruitment tool..) and participation in the project Sharepoint Team Services. More and more though the activities are oriented towards all 3 parts of Computing:

• Responsible for defining the strategy concerning the CGE&Y server platforms, directories en Web platforms;
• Making demonstrably studies for new ‘Business Cases’ (ROI < 1year);
• Making Infrastructural plans of improvement like the reorganisation of the CGE&Y ‘server park’, the clearing of the DNS, the set-up of a extranet environment and the implementation of Single-Sign-On;
• Managing and supervising the daily operational maintenance of servers and Web community still remains an important part of the total activities.

2000 – 2001 Transition Manager
CGE&Y ISM B.V. stands for the maintenance of Information systems. The ICT function of the customer is being partly or completely outsourced to ISM (Information System Management). The internet maintenance department is a specific part within ISM because of the numerous interfaces and interactions with other services (NT, UNIX, databases: Oracle, SQL, network maintenance, the service desk and the control room). A transition period will be started before accepting the charge of maintenance of Web applications. According to this method based upon ITIL, projects will not be finished after implementation but only after the acceptance of a professional ICT maintenance organisation. The Transition Manager supervises this transition period, from negotiation with the developers till the setting-up of Service Level Agreements for the final maintenance.

• Setting-up a method for the transition of internet applications. Before the creation of this new role, all Web applications were accepted for maintenance regardless of the quality and manageability. After the implementation of the transition method an audit (Quick Scan) will be carried out first to check the manageability of the concerning Web application;
• Auditing the Web applications of CGE&Y and of large customers on quality and manageability. Making a Quick Scan or Audit report with recommendations in regard of the manageability. After the developing team has followed up the recommendations of the Quick Scan report, the next steps of maintenance acceptance will follow;
• Supervision of application development to final maintenance acceptance, including the setting-up of Service Level Agreements (service contract for the customer). During the year 2000 the following transitions and audits have been performed under the guidance of the Transition Manager: KPN Telecom (audit on a Web application from Origin), Transavia (Quick Scan and supervision transition internet site on-line reservation), Miss Etam (Quick Scan several Web applications), Quick Scan and transition of several internal CGE&Y Web applications (Agora, Sybille, Sofia, E-match, Weblease).

1999-2000 Interim Manager TNT Global Collect
TNT GlobalCollect is part of the TNT Post Group (TPG). TNT GC offers financial and marketing services to organisations that are doing business with customers abroad. It is a relatively small organisation around 70 workplaces, where automatic services are of primary importance. Within this organisation the interim manager was responsible for the maintenance department I&E (Infrastructure & Exploitation). A team of 10 persons with different expertise; from Office automation (Novell, NT), HP-UX till databases (Ingres, Oracle) and banking application management (Cash Management). On top of the daily system management activities and problem solving, projects followed each other up rapidly.

The main task of the Manager I&E was to bring more structure in the department with the help of ITIL processes, providing a higher stability in the maintenance environment, guarantee better planning and communication towards the users. A basis structure has been set up, planning has improved and the department is being supported now by a well installed Service desk for the registration of incidents by the users. In addition the stability of different IT components has improved considerably and a decrease in the number of incident reporting has been proved.
