International sales and marketing of medical diagnostic ultrasound equipment.
Job evolution: Introduction of the use of Diagnostic Ultrasound techniques to the medical specialists in Cardiology all over Europe and the Middle-East. The ultimate goal was to sell equipment and establish medical reference centres.
After realisation, transfer of know-how to the local sales-organisations and agents in order to enable them to handle future sales and marketing. Installation of sold systems, as well as clinical and technical training of users.
Ongoing support to local companies and agents in relation to product know-how, clinical experience, sales and marketing aspects. The job evolved into the function of Assistant Product Marketing Manager. In this function support was given to the Marketing Manager with reference to the development and implementation of international marketing plans. Full replacement of the Marketing Manager during his absence. Daily supervision of product specialists in the department. Direct responsibility for sales aids, international symposia, training, screening of potential agents, pricing etc.

1982- 1989

World-wide sales responsibility in the function of Sales Manager. The function has a fully international character, since close to 100 percent of the total turnover is realised outside The Netherlands. In the period 1982-1987 some 40 new markets were developed, agents selected and appointed. The company sales increased over this period from approximately NLG. 6M to NLG. 36M.
Apart from the direct sales responsibility, also advise was given in relation to order handling, shipping and sales planning.
Selection of media for advertising and international exhibitions. Organisation of the yearly agent meetings both in Europe and the Far East.
Direct responsibility for the management of 6 individuals:
Area Manager Europe.
Area Manager Africa and Middle East.
Area Manager Asia, based in Hong Kong.
Manager for OEM Sales.
Sales force for Holland, 2 people.

1989 - 1993
Texas Instruments Holland, Almelo
Marketing Director for the Texas Instruments Registration & Identification System (TIRIS).
Main responsibilities are the Global introduction and sales of TIRIS in the livestock market. Intensive contacts with International Standards Organisation (ISO) which resulted in the acceptance of TIRIS as part of the global standard. Obtained political acceptance for electronic animal identification through intensive actions with EEC officials both in Brussels and in the Member States.
Since January 1990 the department has been increased to 10 people of which 2 in Australia and 2 in the USA. Co-ordination of the world-wide marketing communications with two people directly reporting.

1993 – onwards
In 1993 I started my own company, MASCON (Massink Consultants). This company was formed to sell ultrasound products produced by Dynamic Imaging Ltd, Livingston Scotland in a number of European countries, via new distributor networks. This was successful and in 1995 the company was converted in a different legal form as Dynamic Medical & Veterinary Products BV. The current sales program is still Dynamic Imaging Ltd and for the veterinary market in the Netherlands also X-Ray equipment and ECG systems, as well as examination tables and climate controlled cabinets for the veterinary market. On an international basis an agreement was made with HONDA Electronics to set up a distributor network for their Ultrasound products in Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Belgium and France.
Apart from this, Electronic animal identification systems are sold as well.
