Various contracts for breaking new markets and new products in existing markets. Duties include designing and planning direct mail campaigns, recruitment, etc.

Specialist in interiors and office furniture marketing and relationship/cold sales initiation.

Work partly in UK and partly in NL.

Clients include: Breathe Group, Cambridge UK (Launching 802.11/IP telephony division)
AWS, Moerdijk, NL (Start-up business)*

2000 – 2002 Lucent Technology, Hilversum

New Business Development Manager EMEA

Initially employed to rescue three failing switching system campaigns and draft a long term strategy for development (or otherwise) of the product lines for all over Europe. Spent 60% of the time travelling across Europe and South Africa.

My main activity became looking at market trends, regional conditions and planning campaigns to exploit them. I became heavily involved with the WiFi 802.11b/g revisions and the early development of ‘hot-spots’ and other true SME facing business initiatives.

Additional work included managing some of the trade shows from concept through to staffing. Also became briefly involved in sales of ex-stock routers, switching equipment to Eastern European countries, Far East etc.

Left due to industry collapse and redundancies.

1995-2000 Co Director of Sykes Ltd, Wokingham
(Later trading as MRC consultancy)

Below-the-line design agency and direct mail/telemarketing campaign services

This company was set up to compliment another agency Active Image which I helped establish in 1992, which was purely agency design work, mainly for corporate brochures (there was less web work around in early 90’s).

My major clients included:

Vodafone (Newbury), SGI (Reading), Lane Office (New York), Ascend (became Lucent) Communications (Various locations), Steelcase Strafor (Slough)

Although the company kept going until 2000 I left because of increasing opportunities to travel with exclusive contracts, ultimately relocating to The Netherlands for Lucent.

1993-1995 Business Development Specialist Steelcase Strafor

Head hunted from IT industry to launch new cold calling campaign and asked to become a full-time employee after initial successes.

Additional role was to make recommendations on database systems and plan channel/dealer regional sales campaigns.

Left to become self-employed.

1987-1992 Sales Manager CSE Computers, Pangbourne

Started as the only commercial sales person in a very localised selling area with what was a government contracts supplier.
Products included Novell, IBM, Compaq and peripheral products, together with accounting software and database systems. (Mostly pre internet).
