EMPLOYMENT:

PricewaterhouseCoopers - Business Unit Leader, RMG.
(World’s largest professional services firm with125,000 personnel in 142 countries).

Pivotal delivery and leadership role with the Receivables Management Group (“RMG”). RMG is a specialist unit providing “hands on” business turnaround and receivables management services to blue-chip clients. Responsible for all 3rd party consulting assignments (incorporating quality control, technical delivery, team development and customer relationship management). Achievements included:

·Won and managed Group’s largest project from scratch, involving 17 consultants deployed for 18months for Gillette Ltd a global FMCG business with UK T/O of £800m.

oAchieved 20day reduction in DSO (upper quartile performance within client peer group), generating additional £65m cash.
oCleared over 90% (£24m) of historic invoice queries dating 24months prior within 6 months.
oDesigned new credit policy and re-engineered over twenty key business processes involving sales to cash, order processing, invoicing and customer query management.
oSeamlessly integrated and managed both PwC personnel and client staff, acting as principal on-site advisor to UK and European board.

·Led International crisis management / cash generation project for one of the world’s largest multi-media manufacturers and distributors (formerly part of BASF with T/O €770m). HQ in Germany with 3000 personnel employed globally.

oDeployed and managed teams in six key target countries.
oReduced global DSO by 11% (generating additional €19.7m cash).
oGlobal 60-day+ debt reduced by 60% (€14.6m to €5.9m).
oProblematic South American debt reduced by 47%.
oCollected €520 million in 9 months - a major contributory factor to the company’s survival and financial turnaround.

·Managed International cash generation project for an ailing steel manufacturer in Eastern Europe T/O $1.4billion (representing 16% of Country’s GDP).

oEstablished a dedicated Credit Services department from scratch.
oImplemented robust credit policy and supporting work practices.
oAdvised Executive Board on all matters relating to Credit Management and major dispute negotiations.
oDelivered a 106% increase in average cash receipts and 60% reduction in DSO.
oPersonally negotiated major International dispute settlements.
oReduced debt position facilitated survival of the business and acquisition by American counterpart in 2000.

·Working as part of David James’ turnaround team, managed credit management operations at the Government funded New Millennium Experience Company, (the Millennium Dome).

oAchieved 90% reduction in sales ledger balances within 6 months.
oNegotiated settlements with major accounts.
oIntroduced new reporting and MIS.


Management Consultant / Interim Executive: 1994-1998

Provided interim management and advisory services to blue chip and SME clients relating to receivables, customer service and order fulfillment management. Assignments & achievements included:

·Tiphook Plc - (formerly the largest container/trailer co in Europe employing 600+). Turned around receivables management during two-year assignment encompassing the UK and mainland Europe.
oEffectively ran European commercial finance, including credit, risk and customer support services.
oEstablished and managed centralised European receivables management operation - achieving 80% improvement in DSO and 50% reduction in overheads.
oLed credit policy review and design, process re-engineering & restructuring initiatives across Europe.
oAchievements played significant role in company’s survival and consequent acquisition in 1996.
